iWALKFree was created in 1999 with the aim of offering the world a hands-free/pain-free mobility option. Despite being available to patients for over 20 years, iWALKFree is still working on product improvements and remains a world leader in the development and manufacture of hands-free crutches.
iWALKFree was initially available in Canada from June 2000. Shortly after, iWALKFree was registered as a medical device with the American FDA and received CE certification in Europe. Over the next ten years, iWALKFree set the standard for hands-free mobility.
Numerous clinical and university studies have been conducted with iWALKFree. CHRISOFIX AG and CHRISOFIX HUNGARY Ltd. (previously ORKRISZ Ltd) are privately owned companies. They are responsible for designing, developing, manufacturing, and sale a world-wide patented product range of orthopedic splints/orthoses. The first patent on CHRISOFIX® technology was filed by K. Bolla MD., the founder of CHRISOFIX Ltd. (Schaffhausen, Switzerland) at the end of 1995. The manufacturing of the CHRISOFIX® products was started in 1997 by Orkrisz Ltd. (Budapest).
