Campaign “Help Get Back on Your Feet!”
Medikom Latvia founders, Dr. med. Jānis Šlēziņš and Dr. Raimonds Mikijanskis, in collaboration with Entrepreneurs for Peace, call for support for the campaign “Help Get Back on Your Feet!”.
As part of the campaign, donations are being collected to send hands-free crutches to Ukrainian soldiers injured in the war. With their help, it is possible to ensure the injured patient's ability to move, work, and participate in everyday life immediately after a lower leg amputation, injury, or surgery, thus immediately regaining the opportunity to return to daily activities. In total, the campaign plans to deliver 2,000 units of crutches for the rehabilitation of injured Ukrainian soldiers.
We invite everyone to support the victims of the Ukrainian war!

About the Campaign
Every day in Ukraine, soldiers suffer critical lower leg injuries, including those resulting from anti-personnel mine explosions. Therefore, the “Entrepreneurs for Peace” Foundation calls on Latvian companies and every supporter of Ukraine to participate in the donation campaign “Help Get Back on Your Feet” to send hands-free crutches to Ukrainian soldiers injured in the war.
Responding to the appeal of neurosurgeons Dr. med. Janis Slezins and Dr. Raimonds Mikijanskis, the campaign plans to purchase hands-free crutches with the donations raised. In total, the campaign aims to deliver 2,000 units of crutches for the rehabilitation of injured Ukrainian soldiers.
Already, around 75,000-100,000 people, both civilians and military personnel, have suffered severe lower leg injuries due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, including amputations from explosions, landmines, and other causes. Unfortunately, these numbers continue to grow.
The majority of these injuries are severe and life-threatening, with profound physical and psychological consequences, overcoming which is a complex, individual, and long process. Often, victims require walking aids (such as prostheses) for the rest of their lives.
iWALK hands-free crutches enable the victim to regain the ability to walk comfortably, climb stairs, and work almost immediately (after surgery or other treatment), ensuring independence and a certain "normality"—the ability to engage in daily activities without a wheelchair or traditional crutches and not be isolated from society.
As part of the donation campaign, we met with a young man—a Ukrainian resident and defender, Serhiy Poptsov, who is recovering in Latvia after a severe lower leg injury sustained during the war. Before the war, Serhiy worked in a car repair shop and as an industrial climber. Currently, during his recovery period, Serhiy is actively working as a volunteer, repairing cars that will later be delivered to Ukraine to help its residents in the difficult conditions caused by daily hostilities. For example, Serhiy is currently working on a minibus that is being prepared for an orphanage in Ukraine.
The iWALK hands-free crutch is a great help to Serhiy because he can freely use both hands and easily move, sit down, and even lie down, if necessary, during the work process of repairing a car. Serhiy demonstrates how to easily step over an obstacle, move smoothly, and even climb the stairs of a truck or any stairs with iWALK, for example, when going to a rehabilitation facility where he continues to receive recovery measures. Serhiy believes that there is a huge need for hands-free crutches in Ukraine and they would immediately improve the lives of several thousand people.
The use of hands-free crutches provides a psychologically favorable background for rehabilitation, maintains leg muscles and joints in a functional state, and serves as an adaptation to get used to walking with an artificial replacement for a lost lower limb. In addition, the iWALK 3.0 can be transferred to another person if the current user no longer needs it—the hands-free crutch can be individually adapted to everyone countless times.

Let's Help Ukraine!
Thanks to public donations, two batches of hands-free crutches have already been delivered to Ukraine. We are grateful to everyone for their support and solidarity!
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many Ukrainians have suffered serious injuries, including leg amputations and severe below-the-knee injuries. With the help of ziedot.lv, in early 2024, we provided iWalk3.0 hands-free crutches to wounded soldiers and civilians.
Why iWALK3.0? These hands-free crutches allow victims to regain the ability to walk, climb stairs, and work, ensuring independence and a sense of normality. In addition, they can be transferred to other wounded people if they are no longer needed.
Your support is invaluable, and together we can do even more—a donation can improve the lives of several thousand war victims in just a few days.
